The Council owns the Recreation Ground car park and rents the Wesley Place car park, as a service to residents and shoppers. Residents may obtain an annual car park permit to park in the Recreation Ground car park. Contact the Clerk for more details.

RESIDENT’S CAR PARKING PERMIT POLICY

St. Columb Major Town Council understands the difficulty in finding parking places within the town. To assist residents they are willing to set aside a limited number of spaces in the RECREATION GROUND CAR PARK for the use of parking by residents in St. Columb Major.

The number of permits reserved for RESIDENT’S parking will be a maximum of 25

These 25 permits will be reserved for RESIDENTS ONLY. To qualify as a “resident” proof of residence (Electoral Roll Number) within the town boundary on a permanent basis will be required.

  • Vehicles to be parked will be defined as cars or light vans. No heavy commercial vehicles over 2.5 tonnes will be permitted.
  • Resident’s car parking permits will only be obtainable from the Town Clerk, by telephoning for an appointment during office hours.
  • The cost and number of the permits will be reviewed annually by the Town Council’s Finance and General Purposes Committee, and agreed by the Full Council .
  • Permits will be issued by the Town Clerk only and will have a fixed charge with no rebate. Each permit will last for a maximum of one year only, renewable the following April.

From the 1st May 2016, the Council in exercise of their powers under Sections 32, 33, 35, 57 and 59 of (and Part IV of Schedule 9 to) the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act of 1984") and The Traffic Management Act 2004 (hereinafter referred to as “the 2004 Act”) and all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Schedule 9 of the 1984 Act have made the following order that can be downloaded by clicking here.
