St Columb Major Town Council is pleased to report that the launch of St Columb In Bloom will take place on the 1st of June 2015. Over 80 hanging baskets have been requested by residents and businesses as part of the free offer by the Town Council to help brighten up the main streets.

St Columb in bloom

Over the last few months a dedicated team of Councillors lead by Deputy Mayor Cllr Jenny Warner and Cllr Barry Daniels have been working hard preparing the various flower beds within the parish for planting. As part of this program they also (with the help of Mrs Linda Jiggins) planted out the flower bed at the memorial wall and garden at St Columb Cemetery Trekenning Road and the beds at the entrance leading into the cemetery.

The Mayor Cllr Paul Wills who launched the idea in January said “I am very pleased with how this is progressing. I am confident that the people of the parish will see a real marked difference in how the parish looks come the summer. It is my hope that by the time we start our Carnival week celebrations on the 2nd of August the whole parish will be looking special. We have just taken over responsibility for the bank at Trekenning roundabout which leads into town and intend to have a superb display to welcome people to our parish.
